The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)

CDAP is designed to help small and medium-sized Canadian businesses grow through digital transformation. 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is an initiative designed to assist small and medium-sized Canadian businesses in leveraging digital technologies to grow and become more competitive. The program offers two primary grant streams: the Grow Your Business Online Grant and the Boost Your Business Technology Grant.

Grow Your Business Online Grant

This grant offers up to $2,400 to help businesses set up e-commerce platforms and grow their sales online. It also provides access to a network of over 11,000 e-commerce advisors. To qualify, businesses must be consumer-facing, selling goods or services directly to end consumers. They must also be for-profit, registered or incorporated, and either have at least one employee (other than the owner) or had at least $30,000 in annual revenue in the most recent tax year. Eligible costs for this grant include developing or adding functionalities to e-commerce websites, installing e-commerce platforms, and hiring consultants for digital marketing strategies, among others. Ineligible costs include internet connectivity, shipping of goods, purchases made prior to grant approval, and renewal of digital services like domain names.

Boost Your Business Technology Grant

This grant provides up to $15,000 in funding to help businesses adopt new technologies to improve their operations, such as increasing productivity, consolidating back-office software, enhancing cybersecurity, managing inventory more efficiently, and improving supply chain logistics. Eligible businesses must be Canadian-owned, for-profit, and have between 1 to 499 employees, with at least $500,000 in annual revenue in one of the last three years. The grant covers up to 90% of eligible costs associated with retaining a registered digital advisor for the production of a Digital Adoption Plan, including fees, commissions, and applicable taxes. It does not cover costs related to technology implementation or any services supporting the application process for the grant.

Both grant programs require businesses to work with a digital advisor recognized by the program. The Boost Your Business Technology grant also involves submitting a digital adoption plan, which should include an executive summary, assessment of the current state of technology in the business, analysis and recommendations for digital technology options, and an implementation roadmap.

In addition to these grants, businesses receiving the Boost Your Business Technology grant are eligible to apply for a 0% interest loan of up to $100,000 from the Business Development Bank of Canada and a youth placement wage subsidy.
